Burkina Faso has risen to the rank of African countries rich in mineral resources. This is why the Burkinabe state initiated West Africa Mining Week (WAMW). A way for the country of Men of Integrity to work for the enhancement of the mining potential of Africa.
The objective of SAMAO is to offer business opportunities to public and private actors, to attract investors to support the growth and sustainable development of the mining and quarrying sector. As a resource provider, the mining sector is very important to African countries. It also creates jobs.

In Burkina Faso, mines have experienced exceptional growth over the past decade. Their contribution to GDP estimated at less than 1% in 2008 is estimated at 11% in 2017. In 2017, the sector accounted for more than 75% of export shares. The 13 industrial mining operations created provide more than 200 billion CFAF in tax and parafiscal revenues, with over 9,000 direct jobs. This mining boom is an opportunity to develop related sectors through the supply of goods and services to mines.
